Pomeranians - Obedience Training

One of the most acute problems for Pomeranian owners is the breed's incompatibility with children. This tiny fluffy dog attracts them as a magnet. Carefree attitude towards a Pomeranian can lead to a sort of misunderstanding. Pomeranians will defend themselves all they can.

Snappish behavior is often believed to be a common feature of all Toy breeds. However, one should always keep in mind that any breed of dog will display dissatisfaction when teased or handled inappropriately. Indeed, it is ridiculous to expect a living being to show lack of response to their owner's inconsistent actions.

There is no other solution to the problem except proper training from an early age. Bad manners stem not from a dog's personality, but from unwillingness of its owner to give enough thought and effort to teach the pet.

It holds especially true in the Pomeranian's case. It is a vast misconception to think that the Pomeranian does not need obedience classes since it is too small and fragile to manage anything more than lying on the owner's lap. The Pomeranian's charming appearance makes one believe that this dog is incapable of playing a trick on its owner. In fact, there is no reason to think so. A Pomeranian whose owner allows its manners to take care of themselves is doomed to raise a spoiled, demanding dog.

Definitely, it does not mean that the Pomeranian should be exposed to radical training to eliminate the slightest possibility of behavior disorders. No harsh methods are recommended since the breed is rather independent, and will not bear any pushing. Consistent treatment and reasonable training will surely be more fruitful in raising Pomeranians.
